Principal Conservator John Griswold received a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from the University of California at Irvine, while serving as an apprentice in the antiquities conservation lab at the J. Paul Getty Museum. He received a Master's of Art Conservation (Research) from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada.  Separate from his duties as principal of Griswold Conservation Associates, he has been the staff conservator at the Norton Simon Museum of Art in Pasadena, California since 2007. John has also served as a research consultant in the Scientific Department of the Getty Conservation Institute. A Professional Associate of the American Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC), he is a past Chair of the AIC Objects Specialty Group, a past President of the Western Association for Art Conservation, and serves as a Peer Advisor to the Design Excellence in the Arts Program of the U.S. General Services Administration.
